Our Christmas Santa Sacks are complete and delivered to Cafs today for distribution to some very happy children in their orbit.
This has been a tradition for SJD Foundation Ballarat Inc for many years now and we are excited to once again see it come to fruition. 100 Santa Sacks full of Christmas treats were made possible by the generous support of these businesses and volunteers! Buxton Ballarat Shepp Cannery Surplus ALDI Australia M Group GroundUp Spanners & Sparks Automotive Ballarat Turf Club at Sportsbet-Ballarat Volunteers: Brayden, Gav, Jarrod, Tamara, Libby, Mary, Naomi, Mick, James and Clemmie. Thank you and Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to all 🧒🏽 We are proud to have assisted a local Ballarat Primary School in their endeavours to spread the Christmas cheer! 👦🏼
These talented kids all sang Christmas Carols for the shoppes at Delacombe Town Centre this morning to lots of applause! 👏🏽 These kids are so spirited! 🎅🏼 The school's budget didn't stretch to pay for buses for this kind of activity, so we were very happy to help! SJD Foundation Ballarat pride ourselves on being able to respond to urgent situations of hardship with tangible items that will immediately help a situation. Such as groceries, clothing or bedding and toys.
This situation saw a grandmother needing to take in her grand-daughter immediately and not having any of the everyday items on hand and no money to buy them. We quickly got a list from her and delivered the items needed pictured below including formula, bottles, clothing and dummies. This week we had a request for some urgent items for a local Ballarat mother who was escaping Domestic Violence with her 2 young sons.
Among other items, she desperately needed clothing suitable for the summer months but didn't have the funds to buy new clothes. SJD Foundation Ballarat were able to step in and give this local mum a hand up by buying and delivering clothing, some toys etc directly to the house. 👏🏽 A huge thank you to the Ballarat Turf Club for choosing us to be the charity recipient of their Annual Golf Day.
The Turf Club worked hard with other local businesses below to run a great day for members and friends. Importantly they also raised $10,000 and have donated this money to SJD Foundation Ballarat Inc. We have already started to put this money to good use helping local children and families through tough times. 👏🏽 Thank you also to: Dave Canny from the Red Lion Hotel Cam Vallance from Midlands Golf Course Vin Armstrong from C.U.B. This week we helped a grandmother take in her two grandchildren who were displaced from their parents in Ballarat.
The grandmother had a spare room but no furniture or clothing for the grandchildren. We were able to help with clothing, toys, books, bunk beds, and bedding for the children to make their time at their grandmothers house comfortable and safe. This was an urgent situation and we ere able to help within a few days to complete this task. Thank you to all our donors - without whom we would not be able to complete this urgent work. We were once again pleased to be able to provide 100 Santa Sacks worth of Christmas goodies to CAFS Ballarat to be passed onto the local foster children in the Ballarat area.
Each sack has 15 items valued at $100, we sincerely hope they bring a smile to some children's faces for Christmas this year. A big thank you to the following businesses and people who volunteered their time to make this happen: SJD Foundation Ballarat Inc Board: Nicole, Brayden, Gavin, Jarrod and Anthony Mick and Gill from GroundUp Coffee Recyclers Ballarat Mary (CAFS) Clemmie James, Tayla and Kaelee from Buxton Ballarat Shepp Cannery Surplus - Howitt Street If you'd like to donate to our charity, all donations over $2 are tax deductible. Board members Brayden and Gavin today delivered some well stacked Christmas Sacks to the Yuille Park Community College Young Parent's Program. These committed young parents have worked hard to keep their studies going while being parents at the same time. We have supported this program for over 15 years and it was a pleasure to once again deliver the goodies for the kids this Christmas. Pictured is Teach Amelia from Yuille Park Community College accepting the sacks! Philip Kolarik and his team at Spanners and Sparks (Ballarat and Wendouree) are regular monthly financial contributors to SJD Foundation Ballarat Inc.
A huge thank you to Phil and the team for their efforts to donate $2 from every job through their doors each month to our charity.
